The day after my birthday I found myself in the hospital. It was sudden and unexpected, terrible and frustrating. But God gave me a blessing I wasn’t expecting.
A spiritual attack was launched on my health and it tried to take me out the game. I am not going to get into detail because I find it more beneficial to glorify God than the enemy’s attack. Fast forward, I was in the hospital and in a lot of pain. My family was present, and family was yet calling in to check on me.
Back in September of 2019, my grandfather fell ill and I prayed a prayer that I have never prayed in all my days and I believe in my heart that God hears my prayer and restored my grandfather to a reasonably good state of health for a man his age. He has some health challenges now, residue from what happened that altered his life. Yet, he is still here. When he found out that I was in the hospital, he did something that I had never heard of him doing before and that my grandmother, his wife of over 50 years had never seen him do. It was the blessing I wasn’t expecting.
“Oh my goodness,” my aunt said as she hung up the phone from talking to my grandmother. “Mommy said your grandfather, when he heard you were in the hospital, got out the bed, got down on his knees, started praying, then got up, and went back to bed.” Now for others, this seems like, “Wow, what a good grandpa praying for his granddaughter, what’s the big deal?” The big deal is that this is not how my grandfather normally does things! He prayed for ME! In his frailty of body and mind, his first response to my distress was to physically get up and out of bed, touch his knees to the floor, and pray for ME! In his distress I prayed in faith for him and God responded and is yet responding. And he has returned the favor for me. Yes, I cried. Yes, I praised God. Yes, I believe that the fullness of my healing will manifest in the here and now.
I share this to say that God Almighty, God Our Healer knows the exact agents to use to manifest our healing. He used a a person I wasn’t expecting to pray for the blessing I desperately needed. I thank God for my grandfather and the process of physical, mental, and spiritual healing God is bringing through his life. God doesn’t care if you’re 8 or 78, He will use who He chooses to administer blessing to you in your time of need. Just remember, always be the one to come back and say, “Thank you.”
