From:God, A Note on Focus

Hello My Beloved,

Fight for your focus. There are many things that will try to distract you from hearing me, and they will be victorious if you do not fight for your focus.

What you give your eye to, you give your ear to, and what you give your ear to, you give your heart to. If you have your eyes seton Jesus, youconversewith him. Once you converse with him, you take interestin him. Once you take interest, you invest intimacy with him—intimacybeing to give significant time, attention, and focus to. Once you are intimate with the object of your desire, Jesus, your heart opens to receive seed(wisdom, word, instruction, suggestion) from him. Once you receive the seed, it grows and bears fruit.

The same is true with distractions. Once a distraction comes into view, and if you break focus off of Jesus to entertain it, you start to conversewith it. Ex. You’re scrolling on social media and you see your friend just got engaged. You are so happy for them, then you start to feel sad because you are still single. PAUSE, you have just taken your eyes off of Jesus who gives you contentment and joy, and you had a conversation with your distraction. Next, you type your ex-interests’ name in the search box to just check on how they are doing, and you see they are in a new relationship. You start to sink a bit more. PAUSE, you have just become interestedin the distraction. Next, you start to wonder what is wrong with you, why you were not good enough, and when the person for you will surface, and in your misery, you click back to the home screen to post a status. PAUSE, you have now gotten intimatewith the distraction. You’ve meditated on it and let it roll over and over in your mind. You opened your heart to receive the seedfrom it—lies about your identity, blows to your esteem and contentment, and doubt about God’s character and care for you single or otherwise. Finally, you are leaving your heart on this status. “Back then they didn’t want me, now I’m hot, they all on me.” “You’re going to miss me when I’m gone.” “Funny how they don’t want you, and the next be an almost clone of you.” Here is the fruit. The fruit of your distraction from Jesus Christ always leads to pride and a worship of and dependence on self. Beloved, this is not how I designed your focus to be.

You cannot spell heart without hear, and you cannot spell hear without ear. Give me your ear and I will tell you good and wonderful things that you have never imagined. Where your heart is, your treasure is. Am I your treasure? Am I the object of your desire? Is your focus on me? If it is not, SHIFT YOUR FOCUS, DO IT BY FORCE. Let your eyes find my Word, and your ears find my voice. Focus on ME.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Colossians 3:2

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.

Proverbs 4:25

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

Romans 8:5

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:21

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

John 10:27
